DOGEPOET wasn't the first card that I made for Rare Doges, if my memory serves right the first two card which I made for Rare Doges were DOGESTEREO and DOGEONTOP, but DOGEPOET was the first card which I submitted and hence it is my first card in the Rare Doge directory. The little poem in the card was written first and the card was created around it to match with the poem. It's a simple fare and I hardly had any experience of making cards or anything that can be called 'art,' at the time, I made this on Procreate, it was also my first time of using a specialized software for drawing. But I'm happy with how it turned out, it made me feel good to have something that I made on the blockchain.. DOGEPOET has since remained one of my personal favorites among the cards that I made here.
Over the next few years, as I continued making new cards, I found DOGEPOET weaving its way into several of them. Some featured subtle nods, while others made DOGEPOET a more central figure. Together, these cards form a collection I like to think of as Echoes Of DOGEPOET.
HAPPYEIGHT (S11C18) This features all the cards of first 8 series of Rare Doges, so DOGEPOET got included in this card by default. Wasn't too sure if it belongs to this collection, but ended up putting it here because I’m including all my cards which features or refers to DOGEPOET in any manner.
DOGEVUE (S17C35) It is the first card where I made a deliberate choice to put DOGEPOET in it. Once the card was almost done I wanted to put a shimmering image on the TV to make it look alive, poet served the purpose well I think.
DOGEPLAYER (S17C50) I knew I wanted to put DOGEPOET in the lady’s hand while making the card, but it was a bit challenging to keep like likeness of DOGEPOET in a tiny size.
COTTAGELIFE (S19C48) The cottage here has DOGEPLAYER hanging on a wall and DOGEPLAYER features DOGEPOET. It's pencil color on paper.
POETINTHREED (S22C35) To make this one, a physical cutout of the poet was made to float at a distance above the background image and photographed twice from different perspectives (for the right-eye & the left-eye.) The 3D effect actually works, please do try.
HANDMADEPOET (S24C13) This one is graphite sketch + ink + color pencil.
DOGESHAIR (S26C50) Wasn't sure about this one, it doesn't feature DOGEPOET in image but the protgonist of the card is DOGEPOET.
POORGRANDMA (S27C32) Pencil sketch + water color (TV part)
DOGEVIEWER (S11C26) Rare Rejects This one went to Rare Rejects, it is one of my early cards, though I ended up making another card, DMASTER, featuring the iconic View-Master,
THREEDOTPOET (S19C26) Rare Rejects This went to Rare Rejects, the effect works for me but it doesn't for some people I am told, I'm yet to figure out why. |
Awesome contribution to what will be the collection to have right next to Rare Pepe’s. Look forward to collecting.
