The card has a message in Baudot Code. This was used in the early days of telegraphy and it predates the Morse Code. The message is a graphical representation of the Baudot Code. I first learnt about this fascinating method of encoding text when Coldplay came out with their album X&Y, the album cover has a little message in Baudot Code.
